Dr. Eric Burger, Deputy Chief Technology Officer, BEA Systems

Dr. Eric Burger is Deputy Chief Technology Officer for BEA Systems. Eric works in several standards bodies, writing many of the SIP media RFC’s in the IETF and contributing to VoiceXML and CCXML in the W3C. He is Chair of IETF mobile e-mail, media control, and speech services work groups. He serves on the Board of Directors of the IMS and SIP Forums. Eric co-founded and was CTO of SnowShore Networks, where he invented the SIP-controlled multi-function media server. He held senior positions at Cable&Wireless, MCI, Texas Instruments, Cantata/Brooktrout Technology, and ADC/Centigram. He holds over eleven issued patents and has numerous patents pending. He is a Senior Member of the ACM and IEEE, and a Patron of the AAAS and Benefactor of the Internet Society.

Dr. Burger taught at GMU and GWU and holds degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Catholic University of Leuven, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
