General Session: Content Providers' Perspective on Content Delivery
Monday, October 29, 2007, 3:30pm - 4:30pm

It's tougher than ever to be a content provider these days. Technological advances are blurring the line between professionals and amateurs. Editing and capture capabilities that once cost millions are now available for under $10,000, encouraging competition from anyone with an idea. Professional houses struggle to create content that meets user quality expectations on anything from 60" HD TV screens down to mobile phones, yet anyone with a camcorder in their cell phone can create content with poor production quality that seems to be "good enough" for people to watch it if you post it to YouTube. The success of UGC and newentrants in distributing via the Internet has created a proliferation of content that puts pressure on content pricing, while simultaneously providing user-ratings which make the job of finding the hits easier for majors.
