Solutions Presentation: Alcatel-Lucent

The City College of San Francisco has deployed Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX systems at 10 campuses supporting approximately 2,000 VoIP handsets. This presentation will describe a recent successful implementation of SIP Trunking which was done to consolidate PSTN access and reduce monthly expenses. The presentation will also describe an ongoing program supported by the National Science Foundation which allows the college’s communications systems, including SIP Trunking, to be used as a hands-on learning environment for academic programs.



Timothy Ryan, Director, Communication Services, City College of San Francisco

Mr. Ryan is the Director of Communications Services in the Information Technology Department at City College of San Francisco. He is responsible for the design, implementation and support of communications and computing services across 10 campuses. Mr. Ryan is also the Co-PI on a NSF grant which established the Institute for Convergence of Optical and Network Systems (ICONS) and is currently developing new curriculum for the City College Computer Networking and Information Technology Department.

Prior to employment with City College, Mr. Ryan was the Lead Network Engineer with Yipes Communications, a Metro Ethernet services provider. Mr. Ryan holds a BSEE degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a Masters of Science in Information Systems from the University of San Francisco.
