CEO: Fring Layoffs Belie a Company 'Doing Well'

12/02/2008

Mobile VoIP continues to struggle in the face of the recession, with Fring, the maker of a standalone mobile VoIP client, announcing it will layoff 20 percent of its workforce.

Granted, that translates to only 10 people at the startup, but the cuts were necessary to get through 2009, the company said.

Fring has a deal with Mobilkom Austria and said it is recording 400,000 new downloads and activations per month. CEO Avi Schechter accordingly said the company is “doing well,” despite the job cuts.
