iPhone Might Lag Behind

Competition has made the smartphone more than just a flashy fashion accessory. The battles among Apple, Palm, RIM and more have made smartphones live up to their name. So argues one blogger.

Writing for Tech Republic, Jack Wallen describes why he thinks Android phones and the Palm Pre have brighter futures than the Apple iPhone. He says it’s because of the potential of open source. Wallen lays out ten reasons why open source will give these phones the edge:

  1. Open standards
  2. More applications
  3. Security
  4. Customization
  5. Connectivity
  6. Cost
  7. Multitasking
  8. Push Gmail
  9. Developers
  10. Creativity
