As more and more people embrace time- and place-shifted video and are willing to watch it online, shoring up the quality of experience in the over-the-top online environment is becoming a differentiator. Nokeena Networks has launched the Media Flow Director to do just that.

Media Flow’s open architecture is designed to support a TV-like experience online regardless of network vagaries. The purpose-built software appliance is designed to support the unique distribution requirements of online video while lowering media providers’ total cost of delivery.

“Nokeena’s goal is to provide media publishers and distributors with open solutions that enable a complete, television-like quality of experience at a massive scale but at a very low cost per media stream,” said Rajan Raghavan, co-founder and CEO, Nokeena, in a statement. “With the Media Flow Director we’ve created a solution that lets media providers engage new and larger audiences without disrupting their existing infrastructure. They are no longer trapped between the increasing demands of their customers and the constraints imposed by their delivery infrastructure.”
