Global IP Solutions (GIPS) announced Monday that PCCW, a Hong Kong telecom provider, has implemented GIPS VideoEngine technology to power its new PC softphone, 0060 Everywhere, so that its 1 million-plus Internet customers can now may voice and video calls.
PCCW trialed a number of alternative solutions before selecting and implementing GIPS VideoEngine.
“It is imperative for PCCW to provide our customers with a superior level of quality for both voice and video in our 0060 Everywhere application,” said Dr. Allen Wong, director of product development and management for PCCW’s Consumer Group. “GIPS media processing technology and the technical support provided by them were clearly superior to the other offerings we considered and enable us to design a product targeting the needs of our discerning customers.”
VideoEngine PC is a voice and video processing solution for softphone applications on PC platforms. It empowers applications with advanced media processing technology to handle delay and packet loss associated with IP networks, and includes both proprietary and industry standard audio and video codecs.
