Covad Launches VOA VoIP

03/08/2005

Covad Communications Group Inc. said today it has launched its Voice-Optimized Access (VOA) VoIP technology in more than 900 U.S. cities.

Covad operates its VoIP service on T1 and SDSL, making it available to 6 million small businesses.

The provider says its VoIP on T1 costs up to 40 percent less than other offers, so it fits the budgets of companies with up to 200 employees. Covad’s VoIP on SDSL, meanwhile, goes for up to 60 percent less than similar offers and targets SBS with 5-50 employees.

Both services eliminate the need for PBX equipment. Each provides find-me/follow-me capabilities, click-to-call, visual voice mail and fax mail.
