Verizon Business is expanding its managed network services that help companies transition to IP communications, the company said. It also said it is enhancing its IP trunking capabilities.
Verizon Business now offers Managed IP PBX on the Nortel IP telephony platform, combining the Nortel portfolio with its end-to-end network management, PBX experience and monitoring systems. The offering will be available to U.S.-based large-business and government customers in January.
The Nortel-based offerings, leveraging the Nortel Communication Server 1000 IP-PBX, Business Communications Manager and CallPilot platforms, enable voice applications such as “find me, follow me,” and integrated communications that allow for multimedia collaboration, Verizon Business said. They also help companies move to a unified communications platform. .
Verizon Business’ support for the offering includes full implementation, as well as management of fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security functions.
Verizon has deployed more than 155,000 Nortel PBXs and currently maintains more than 29,000 Nortel systems.
Additionally on Monday, Verizon Business said it is providing its IP trunking customers with on-demand sharing of unused trunk capacity, more platforms for IP PBX, a new path to VoIP through its Ethernet to Private IP access option, and automated rerouting of calls to maintain business continuity.
Verizon VoIP Trunking services use SIP signalling to interoperate with either an IP or time division multiplex (TDM) PBX or key system. This versatility gives a customer a way to replace traditional TDM trunk lines provided through the public switched telephone network, the company said.
