Excel Taps VIXXI for E911 VoIP

Excel Telecommunications this week formalized its year-long relationship with VoIP E911 provider VIXXI Solutions Inc. The companies announced Excel will use VIXXI’s technology in its commercial SIP trunking product.

Adding E911 capabilities to VoIP products is nothing new, but Steve Weltner, Excel’s director of business development, said it’s easier now for channel partners to sell to SMBs using IP PBXs. IP PBXs provide features like virtual numbers and unified communications and with the security of E911, channel partners have yet another selling point.

VIXXI is opening up more public safety answering points (PSAPs) for Excel and installing routers that let IP PBXs receive E911 information from any carrier, Weltner said. Excel’s SIP trunking line works with two previously announced IP PBXs; the company will announce eight other names soon, said Weltner.
