Avistar Gets Text, Video IM Patent

Avistar Communications Corp. has received a patent for an instant message system that supports both text and video IMs over the Internet.

Avistar has received 14 patents since September 2008. The company says they cover key aspects of real-time communications, including wireless, mobile devices, buddy list directories, VoIP, video, and communications servers used to provide these services.

“Avistar’s commitment to research and development means that our customers continue to get the latest technology, allowing us to set the pace for the industry,” said CEO Simon Moss.
