Magic Jack Customer Count: Fun With Numbers?

02/02/2009

A report is questioning whether VoIP product and service enabler Magic Jack is doing as good a job counting customers as it is bombarding the airwaves with its ads that claim an average annual savings of $1,000 per year compared to carrier services.

While industry experts claim Magic Jack poses no concerns to their VoIP included double- and triple-play bundles, the proposition of saving big on a commodity landline service in brutal economic times has claimed millions of customers, the firm contends.

VoIP pure plays, Magic Jack among them, have caught the attention of cost-conscious consumers with their low prices and relative ease of use.

But consumers looking for VoIP offerings with more features and integrated with other services such as wireless, broadband Internet and TV service, will most likely stick with bundled offerings.
