New App Lets You Talk to Google, Facebook

03/03/2009

Google and Facebook might soon be saying, “Talk to me!” That’s thanks to the TokTok application, a free program that lets mobile phone users speak to Web applications.

Oh, sure, there are voice interfaces for Web apps out there already, like Vlingo, Nuance and Google Voice Search. But TokTok will let mobile users send voice-activated e-mail, schedule appointments in Google Calendar, do voice search, even “voice poke” Facebook friends, all in the middle of a phone call.

Silicon Valley-based Ditech Networks has developed TokTok specifically to provide access to the Internet and Web productivity tools while driving, walking or otherwise engaged in a phone call, by saying “TokTok” to activate the interface.

TokTok will LaunchLaunch in beta later in the Spring.
