Skype Eludes Patent Infringement Suit

Skype has gotten out from under a lawsuit accusing the peer-to-peer VoIP company of patent infringement.

Peer Communications, a subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp., had sued Skype in 2006 over uniform network technology. The patents let a network agents access multiple discrete network services.

A federal appeals court sided with a lower court in ruling that Peer’s claims were baseless.
