Trance Telecom Launches ColloBox Using MERA Softswitch

10/17/2008

Trance Telecom Inc., an international transit VoIP operator, Friday launched a new hosted softswitch service for VoIP operators called ColloBox, using the MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch II (MVST II) from MERA Systems.

ColloBox ensures the concentration and switching of VoIP traffic with billing and call routing based on quality and route profitability. The service also includes analytics and reporting to profitability control.

According to a press statement, ColloBox lowers initial equipment investment, operational costs and network maintenance service costs for VoIP operators.

Trance Telecom has been using MERA Systems’ gear since 2007. It develops its own VoIP-billing solutions. For more information, visit www.trancetele.com. The carrier provides traffic transit and colocation services between large-scale partners in Western Europe and North America and originators in the CIS (former Soviet Republic) and Eastern Europe. The company has points of presence in Germany, Canada, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine.

The MVTS II is a prepaid switching platform specifically designed to increase the efficiency of VoIP traffic management on large-scale networks, running more than 3 million minutes per month. MVTS II enables wholesale carriers to consider price-to-quality ratio in each call route. MVTS II puts all billing and routing data in one single database (powered by Oracle), which is included in the system.
