Scientific-Atlanta Adds VoIP to Cable Modem
Scientific- Atlanta, a provider of cable network infrastructure, has introduced a cable modem that includes a terminal adaptor for IP voice. The new product, the DPX2203, is certified for PacketCable 1.0, the cable industry's standard for multimedia communication. The certification helps ensure that end points are compatible with other PacketCable and qualified devices in a cable data network, such as call management servers, media gateways and cable modem termination systems (CMTS). The terminal adaptor supports two standard voice lines with two RJ-11 ports, and includes bridged 10/100BaseT autosensing and autoMDIX Ethernet port, a USB1.1 data port, optional four-, eight- or 12-hour battery backup and the WebWizard graphical user interface for setup and troubleshooting.

VocalData, Convedia Establish Interoperability
VocalData Inc., a developer of hosted IP voice software, and Convedia Corp., a provider of media servers, have announced interoperability of their products. Interoperability of hosted voice software and media servers enables the media server to be a media-processing resource for the hosted-voice application, which should enable larger deployments.
