AT&T Adds "Simple-Reach" Feature
AT&T introduced new features for its CallVantage VoIP service, notably Simple Reach Number. This allows subscribers to add up to nine different numbers to their accounts that will ring to the primary AT&T phone. The number can be in any area code covered by CallVantage. A subscriber can use this, for example, to set up numbers that are close to relatives or customers to make it easy for them to call. There is a monthly charge of $4.95 for each Simple Reach Number.
Additional service enhancements by AT&T are:
--International call blocking, to prevent calls to locations where there would be a per-minute fee,
--International call log to track all incoming or outgoing international calls
--Caller ID for international numbers, where available,
--Caller ID using the name from the user's phone book, so the caller ID could say, for example, "Mom" instead of a name.
